THE family of a man who died following a tragic incident at a pub have paid tribute to 'a loving father, husband, brother and son'.

Peter Walker, 41, died in hospital from his injuries on Tuesday, October 25. following an alleged assault on the evening of Saturday, October 22.

Mr Walker, believed to be from Colne, Lancashire, was injured in the disturbance at the Black Horse Hotel, in Skipton. 

Three men arrested in connection with the incident currently remain on conditional bail. They are two men from Skipton, aged 33 aged 36, and one man aged 38 from Bingley.

In a statement issued through the police, Mr Walker's family said: "Peter Walker was a loving father, husband, brother and son. Pete will be missed by his family and also by the many friends and people who knew him.

“Pete was a happy-go-lucky person and well known for being outgoing and hilarious. If anybody needed any support Pete was always there to lend a hand.

“Sadly, Pete was taken away from us all too soon in tragic circumstances.

“He will be greatly missed by all of us.

“Rest in peace, Big Lad.”

In the meantime Mr Walker's brother, Tom Walker, from Colne, has started a fundraising page in support of the bereaved family. 

An initial target of £1,000 was quickly surpassed and now stands at more than £5,600.

Tributes to Mr Walker have poured in following the news of the tragedy.

One man wrote: “Peter was such a nice man, loved by so many people. He would always find the time to stop and chat and wave in passing with his trademark smile. He will be missed by so many. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Another wrote: “Our hearts truly go out to Peter’s family, Donna and her children. We are so sorry for  your loss.”

Another friend wrote: “RIP Peter. Can’t believe it. Thoughts and love to your family,” while a well wisher said:

“My goodness this is tragic. Nobody should go for a night out and not return.”

Another friend said the news ‘had not sunk in’ adding: “He was such a lovely chap. Always had a smile on his face.”
