THE fundraising target for a life-changing sum of £50,000 has been reached in just over 20 days for a Bradford woman’s cancer treatment.
Bakhtawer Kashef, 28 from Bierley was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in July 2021 and has now raised enough money to start her immunotherapy treatment alongside her chemotherapy.
A Just Giving page was set up earlier this month to help raise the huge sum of money, but in little to no time, people from across the world were touched by Bakhtawer’s determination and courage to get better.

£25,000 was raised within just three days and over £43,000 was raised through the page, with family and friends pledging to make up the rest of the sum.
Wajeeha Kashef, Bakhtawer’s younger sister said: “We’d like to thank all those who donated and showed us support and love over the past few weeks.
“Sharing Bakhtawer’s story opened up streams of communication between cancer patients and survivors alike.
“As a family, we’re overwhelmed with the generous donations and prayers from all walks of life.
“Bakhtawer has now started Chemotherapy and continues to hold her spirits high despite the side effects of medication.
“She’s showing no signs of letting her diagnosis define her, keeping a routine and surrounding herself with friends and family that support her through her journey.”
The family researched and found a Spanish medical company that was offering treatment- where a sample of her would be taken and the healthy white blood cells would be replicated and inserted back into her body.
Increasing the chances of the cancer cells being killed and increasing the possibility of remission.
Bakhtawer described her diagnosis as a huge shock throwing her life off balance.
The eldest of four siblings, Bakhtawer is staying strong and trying her best to push through treatment so she can get back to her normal life.
Before her diagnosis, Bakhtewar was on track to becoming a solicitor, having gained a training contract at Mamas & Papas and want’s nothing more than to qualify as a solicitor.
Describing herself as a naturally stubborn person, Bakhtawer isn’t ready to give up on her body and her life.
“We met with the immunotherapy team last week to go through the preparation of treatment which we hope to start soon.
“So far our journey has been met with outstanding support and we will continue to do the best for Bakhtawer.”
