A NURSERY in Bradford that celebrates its outdoor provision has been handed a 'Good' rating in its most recent Ofsted inspection.
Children's Place Day Nursery, on Leylands Lane, Heaton, is also celebrating after Ofsted gave them a rating of 'Good' across the board in an inspection carried out on September 30.
The nursery was given a 'Good' in overall effectiveness, the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management.
The "warm and caring staff" were praised for getting "confident children" to interact with staff, each other and visitors and engage in activities that "develop positive attitudes to learning".
One of those activities that both Ofsted and the nursery staff highlighted is the nursery's large outdoor area.
The Ofsted inspector said: "Children engage in a wide range of outdoor activities at the nursery.
"The well-organised environment promotes their natural curiosity and eagerness to learn."
Nursery director Debbie Burke said: "Nature is such a great learning environment for the children.
"We want to help children to appreciate it now and in the future.
"It's absolutely vital and we're so lucky to have this environment.
"It gives them so much freedom and is good for their well-being.
"At Children's Place, it's all about making a difference and giving children their best start in life."
Children's Place, which has been going 31 years, has eight nurseries across Bradford, Kirkleees and Calderdale. They have been at Heaton since 2012.
Nursery manager Yvonne Jack, who has been at Children's Place for 20 years, said: "One of the main things that came in the report was that they mentioned how happy the staff and children were.
She said: "Children feel safe in our outdoor environment even though it is a big area.
"I'm really big on the outdoors and I love being here."
The nursery maintained its effectiveness as it also received a Good rating at its most recent inspection in 2016.
Ms Jack said one of the things highlighted for improvement in a previous inspection is now a strength.
"We've worked on building partnerships with our parents.
"We've invited them in for Mother's Day and Father's Day activities and we have a children's clothing and book bank for families who are struggling."
Nursery leaders also said they will not rest on laurels, as Ofsted did highlight this year they could improve "providing more targeted and precise support to each member of staff, helping them to enhance their teaching skills to the highest level".
Ms Burke said: "We'll focus on our staff provision as their well-being is important, particularly in these times."
