A LEADING low-cost airline has increased its commitment to Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) for the upcoming months as it meets passenger demand.
Ryanair has announced its winter 2022 schedule from the Yeadon airport which will have an additional based aircraft compared to previous year’s winter seasons.
The budget airline's LBA-based fleet will continue at three aircrafts, an overall investment of more than $300m, supporting 90 direct jobs at the site.
Ryanair will now run 15 routes from LBA, including three new destinations to Alicante, Malaga and Warsaw in Poland, for more than 100 weekly flights from the site.
Ryanair is forecasting a return to pre-pandemic passenger numbers for its flights from Leeds Bradford Airport.
Jade Kirwan, Ryanair’s head of communications, said: “Leeds Bradford Airport is a key airport for Ryanair.
“The airport has quite a strong catchment area. We have a good relationship with the airport.
“The city of Bradford itself is growing as an economic area.
“Ryanair is pleased to announce its new Leeds Bradford Airport winter schedule that offers 15 routes to exciting destinations such as Faro, Lanzarote and Riga.
“Over 100 weekly flights will give Leeds and Bradford citizens an abundance of choice when booking their next city break or winter sun getaway.
“This winter, Ryanair is offering its UK customers lower fares and more certainty with their travel plans, as it operates a full schedule of over 3,000 daily flights with many new routes and unbeatable value for our customers and their families.”
She added airports across the UK, such as LBA, have now controlled the levels of queues that passengers experienced at sites in the Easter and summer months.
She says the airline has maintained its third aircraft operating from the Yeadon airport that it used for earlier this year due to increased demand for its services, adding this demonstrates Ryanair’s commitment to the site.
Nicola McMullen, aviation director at LBA, said: “It’s fantastic to extend our winter 2022 schedule with Ryanair and offer access to some of the most in-demand destinations at affordable prices.
“We’re excited to welcome passengers and holidaymakers over the coming months.”
This follows Ryanair’s summer 2022 schedule which ran to 23 routes from LBA, including three new destinations to Barcelona, Paris and Zadar in Croatia.
Ryanair has launched a seat sale with fares available from £24.99 for travel from this month until March 2023, which must be booked by Friday, October 21. Go to Ryanair.com to book.
