A BRADFORD man will celebrate his 92nd birthday by embarking on another epic fundraising walking challenge.
Jeffrey Long, of Bingley, will soon be 92 years old and to celebrate the occasion he set off from City Hall in Bradford this morning (Wednesday).
Jeffrey will be hiking 40 miles over the next month to raise money for two charities - the the Royal British Legion’s 2022 Poppy Appeal and Support Our Paras.
Jeffrey, a former paratrooper, has raised more than £300,000 for charity over the past 15 years.
Despite having daily chemotherapy and suffering back pain from a parachute malfunction in 1954 when he was serving with the 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion, Jeffrey will aim to complete the 40 miles in less than a month.
He received a civic send-off from Bradford’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Martin Love, in Centenary Square today.
