A MAN has appeared in court for thefts from a Bradford shopping centre.

Mohammed Jama, 43, of Round Street, West Bolling, Bradford, was given a community order for a number of offences.

In the first charge, he was convicted of stealing two pairs of jeans, worth a total of £149.98, from Superdry, The Broadway, Bradford, on August 20, 2022. He was also ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge.

He was convicted for stealing two pairs of shoes, worth £49.98, from H&M, The Broadway, Bradford, on July 26, 2022.

In the third charge, being a detainee/person charged failed/refused to provide a sample for class ‘A’ drug test. After being arrested for and, at the time, the requirement was made had not been charged with theft from shop, failed without good cause to provide a non-intimate sample for purpose of ascertaining whether Jama had class ‘A’ drugs in his body. This offence took place at Trafalgar House police station, Nelson Street, Bradford, on August 20, 2022.

Jama must also carry out 40 hours unpaid work in the community within the next 12 months as part of the community order.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on October 11, 2022.
