A MAN has been fined after failing to produce a train ticket for a journey between Shipley and Bradford.
Thomas Hanslip, 38, of Chapel Street, Bradford, faced one charge of failing to produce/deliver rail ticket on request/give name and address.
On December 2021, having made a rail journey between Shipley and Forster Square, he failed, on request by an officer or servant of the railway company, to produce and deliver up a ticket showing that his fare was paid, or to pay the fare.
Hanslip was issued with a Penalty Fare Notice for either £20 or twice the single fare, whichever was greater.
As no payment was received with 21 days, a reminder letter was sent. The fare remains unpaid.
The fare Hanslip failed to pay for the journey is £2.80.
Hanslip was fined £220, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £34 victim surcharge and £2.80 compensation, for a total of £406.80.
His case was proven in a single justice procedure hearing held at South Yorkshire Magistrates’ Court on October 6, 2022.
