A Bradford police officer has been suspended after a viral video prompted concerns about his use of force.

The video, which was caught on a neighbour’s CCTV camera on Queens Road in Bradford on Thursday afternoon (October 6), has been watched by thousands of people on social media.

The pedestrian, who wishes to remain anonymous, said the incident started when the police car pulled onto the pavement close to where he was standing.

He claims the police officer used excessive force.

Now West Yorkshire Police has revealed that the officer has been suspended from duty.

An investigation has been launched by the force’s own Professional Standards Directorate.

In the one and a half minute long clip, the officer appears to push the pedestrian 11 times before walking down the street.

The pedestrian filed a formal complaint with the force shortly after the incident occurred.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

In the latest statement, a police spokesperson said: "A Bradford-based police officer involved in an incident on Queens Road in Bradford on October 6 has been suspended from duty.

"An investigation has been launched by West Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Directorate."

West Yorkshire Police is appealing for anyone with dash cam and CCTV footage of the incident to come forward.
