THE new series of the Great British Bake Off continued with Mexican Week for the remaining bakers.
The bakers had to tackle a signature of making 12 individual sweet breads, a technical of baking eight Mexican tacos and a tres leches or three milk cake as their showstopper for their three challenges. Rebs and James went home and Maxy was voted star baker in this week’s episode.

Here is Sandy Docherty’s verdict of week four’s episode, as she continues her weekly Telegraph & Argus column which will be online each Wednesday morning while the 10-week series is on.
Sandy said: “I liked Mexican week, I thought it was quite good, really.
“I enjoyed the challenges. I’m enjoying how inspiring the bakes are this year.
“In the technical there was a lot of cooking going on. That’s two weeks in a row now. I suppose it ignites the debate ‘is there going to be more cooking involved in Bake Off?’
“Being on Bake Off is like taking a ride on a magic carpet…”

Here’s a lovely letter from Rebs to all the Bake Off fans. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/lIjJJwYeDf
“We’re in series 13 now, things will have to change to keep every challenge individual and unique.
“Some bakers might think that cooking is not part of baking and might think that they should be watching Masterchef.
“They were three really good challenges. The tacos were slightly interesting. It shows that you don’t have to buy them.
“I would urge people to have a go at the tres leches cake of soaking it in three types of milk. It’s a delicious cake. It’s a cross between a pudding and a cake.
“Big love, good vibes, stay spooky!”

Here’s James’ lovely letter to all the Bake Off fans. #GBBO pic.twitter.com/DmXsJRfth8
“We lost two. Sad to see Rebs so distressed. She has struggled for the three weeks she has been there. She was teetering. It was tragic, I’m sure she has a lot to offer. She must not lose heart.
“James going was a little bit of a surprise. Carole was up there for going. I’m surprised James went out. They have gone on last night’s performance. Carole is knocking on the door. I don’t think we’re looking at a very good skillset. Andrew was up there, he’s a good baker. Maxy is coming good and Sandro is amazing, you could see him in the final.
“Dawn is coming through, she produced the most amazing showstopper.”
