A MAN has been heavily fined after he was convicted of being drunk on a plane at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA).
Alexander Lewis, 29, appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced.
He faced a charge of entering an aircraft when drunk/being drunk in an aircraft.
Court documents say the offence happened on September 8 last year at LBA, when Lewis was “drunk in an aircraft, namely flight number LS224”.
It was a Jet2 plane, court documents add.
Lewis, of George Street, Cleethorpes, initially denied the offence but changed his plea to guilty.
A separate charge of assault by beating was dismissed, with no evidence offered.
Lewis was fined £10,000 and must pay a surcharge of £1,000 to fund victim services.
The balance must be paid by October 19.
