MOBILE phone masts on a listed Bradford mill can be upgraded after heritage officers approved the scheme.
Cellnex, which provides mobile phone infrastructure, currently has a number of masts on the top of a chimney at Whetley Mill, off Thornton Road.
This summer the company applied for permission to upgrade these masts to pro-vide 5G signal.
Cafe plan could 'encourage wider regeneration' of Bradford mill
Whetley Mill dates back to 1865, and is one of the largest surviving mills in the city. Because of its historic significance, heritage officers had to approve any changes to the existing mast set up.
Approving the plan, officers said: “The presence of communications equipment has been a long-term feature in this location.
“The base station equipment will continue to be housed within the tower and will not harm significance of the listed assets.”
