A West Yorkshire Police officer from Bradford has been summoned to appear at court.
Detective Sergeant Gareth Greenwood, of Bradford district, is due to appear in court on October 3.
He is facing charges for two alleged assault offences.
The two counts of common assault relate to an alleged incident against one victim in Baildon on April 29.
The alleged incident took place whilst the officer was off duty and in his role as Temporary Detective Inspector.
DS Greenwood has been suspended from duty, West Yorkshire Police said.
