A MAN has been jailed for removing his colostomy bag when he was arrested in Bradford.
Mohammed Naveed Karim, 35, of The Crescent, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, was jailed for a total of six months for two offences.
In the first, theft from a shop, he was committed to prison for six months for stealing meat and poultry, to the value of £211.62, from Lidl in Bradford. This offence took place on June 24, 2022.
Karim was committed to prison for six months, to run concurrently, for a charge of breaching criminal behaviour order - Sentencing Act 2020.
In this offence, without reasonable excuse, he removed his colostomy bag when arrested which he was prohibited from doing by a criminal behaviour order made by Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court on July 6, 2021. This offence took place in Bradford on June 24, 2022.
He was also ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge. A collection order was also made by the court during Karim’s sentencing hearing.
The offence was deemed so serious because of Karim’s flagrant disregard for court orders, because the offence was aggravated by his record of previous offending.
Karim pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on September 15, 2022.
