A MAN who stalked a woman, rubbing his thighs and grinning at her while shouting in Polish, will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on October 28.

Sebastian Nowak, 42, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stalking and sexual assault, committed in Bradford between January 6 and March 1.

Nowak appeared before the court on a video link to HMP Leeds today but the case was adjourned because the pre-sentence report had not been prepared owing to ‘a break-down of communications.’ His barrister, Paul Canfield, said his client was a man of good character who was drunk at the time. He had been ‘taught a very stern lesson’ while remanded in prison, serving the equivalent of a 13-month jail sentence.

Judge Ahmed Nadim said he wanted a victim impact statement from the woman who told the police Nowak made her feel ‘scared and vulnerable.’ He said the case was very concerning and the probation report would explore the de-fendant’s thought processes at the time.

The court heard that a restraining order will be made to protect the woman in the fu-ture.

Nowak, who was assisted by a Polish interpreter, was remanded back into custody.
