FAMILY of a Keighley teenager who died from cancer have been left distraught after his grave was trashed by thugs.
Someone drove over the plot, leaving tyre tracks and smashing ornaments that had sentimental value.
The scene of destruction was discovered by the father of Callum Mynott during a daily visit to the grave, at Morton Cemetery.
Callum, who was 17, died in 2015 – the anniversary of his death is less than a fortnight away.
The keen rugby league player – who was known to team mates at Keighley Albion as CJ – had previously won a battle against cancer, but the disease returned and was inoperable.
Callum's stepmum, Donna Mynott, says the attack on his grave has left the family devastated.
"My husband – David – rang me at work when he discovered what had happened and I went straight down there," says Donna, a healthcare assistant at Airedale Hospital.
"It was just horrific. Someone has clearly driven over the grave. There were shattered ornaments everywhere.
"We informed the police and I would appeal to anyone who has information to please come forward."
West Yorkshire Police confirm they are investigating an incident of criminal damage at the cemetery, in Bradford Road.
The attack happened sometime between 10pm last Monday, September 12, and lunchtime the following day.
Anybody able to help is asked to call 101 or use the live chat facility at westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus, quoting the crime reference number 13220505717.
Bradford Council has condemned the attack and pledged its support to help bring the culprits to justice.
A spokesperson said: "We are very upset about the mindless damage done to this grave and will assist the police to bring those responsible to justice.
"Our bereavement service has spoken to the affected family and offered support and guidance as they attempt to restore the grave to its original condition."
