FELL rescue volunteers went to the aid of a woman who had fallen and broken her ankle while walking on Ilkley Moor on Sunday.
Grassington-based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue were called upon to assist colleagues at Calder Valley Search and Rescue to help the woman who was on holiday in the area.
A spokesperson for UWFRA said: "Suspecting a broken ankle, later confirmed, the lady managed, with the help of her partner, to get to the nearest sheltered area - the poetry seat at Gill Head.
UWFRA were first on scene and splinted the injury and helped the lady on to the team stretcher. From there both teams worked seamlessly together to carry the lady back to her car at the Cow and Calf. We wish the lady a very speedy recovery. "
It was the 62nd call out for the UWFRA team so far this year.
