A SPECIAL service commemorating the life of Queen Elizabeth II has been held in Keighley.
Around 60 people attended today's event, at the Shared Church.
Dignitaries present included the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Martin Love, Keighley's town mayor Cllr Luke Maunsell and mayoress Debbie Maunsell, Keighley MP Robbie Moore and West Yorkshire Deputy Lieutenant, Suzanne Watson.
The service, held in conjunction with Keighley Town Council, was led by the Rev Canon Mike Cansdale and the Rev Dr Tracey Raistrick.
A welcome was given by the Rev Cansdale, who spoke about the Queen's life of devotion and faith. And he described how so many people from all walks of life, and from every part of the world, had wanted to express their gratitude and condolences following her death.
The service included hymns, prayers and readings, and featured contributions from the Sikh and Muslim communities.
And the national anthem was sung.
Afterwards, people had the opportunity to sign a book of condolence.
The church had been open for two days after the Queen's death for people to sit and pray, light candles and sign the book of condolence.
The Rev Cansdale, who is rector of Keighley, said there had been a steady stream of visitors.
"Many reflected on the fact that Her Majesty was the only monarch they'd ever known," he added.
"Queen Elizabeth II was a remarkable woman and an inspiration to us all. Her steadfast faith and loyal service throughout 70 years as monarch will be long remembered."
Tributes to the late Queen have continued to be paid locally.
Keighley community stalwart Charlie Bhowmick has recalled the time he went to Buckingham Palace to receive the MBE, for services to race and inter-faith relations, from Her Majesty in 2005.
"She was very charming," he said.
"The whole experience was wonderful and something I never imagined would happen to me.
"It was nerve-wracking beforehand and I had some sleepless nights, but you were fully briefed about how to stand, bow and even shake hands!"
Over the years, Charlie has collected many books about the Queen together with items of memorabilia, and has given numerous talks to groups about his experience at the Palace.
He adds: "Her life, loyalty and true service to the nation and to the world cannot be repeated. She fulfilled her loyal responsibility so well. God bless her, bless her soul and may she rest in peace."
