A new craft beer shop has opened its doors in Bingley – and it all started with conversations down the pub.
Can Do Beer stocks a selection of craft IPAs, bitters, pales, lagers, Trappist beers, German wheat beers, stouts, canned cocktails and more.
The idea for Bingley’s first dedicated craft beer shop was sparked by beer-fuelled chatter between barber Oliver Crowley, tattooist Adam Hodgson and Jonny Whiteoak.
Whether it’s Kriek or Pilsner which takes your fancy, shelves full of locally, nationally and internationally brewed beers can be found on Dubb Lane, near Aldi.
“It’s been a long time coming,” Oliver told the Telegraph & Argus.
“From three of us sitting in an undisclosed pub in Bingley around a year ago, chatting about how much the town needed a decent tinny/bottle shop, to opening our very own little shop for all to enjoy.
“We set up a weekly board meeting in an undisclosed pub, not much business got discussed, and then we thought, let’s get on with it.
“Caroline, Jonny’s wife, has done lots behind the scenes. It’s only a little place.
“Everything’s got a bit of a Yorkshire feel, it’s quite trendy.”

The shop is found below Oliver’s popular Blackcrows Barbershop – meaning much of the beer recommendations come directly from those sat in his chair.
There will be a weekly specials board, online shop and opportunities for lovers of more niche craft beer brands to order their favourite tipples.
“The stock will change from time to time to keep refreshing,” Oliver said.
“A lot of it is friends of ours that are requesting stuff and customers of mine in the barbershop saying, ‘That’s really nice’.
“We’ve listened to our customers, we’ve got in what we think they want and said.
“We make a weekly stock order. A guy came in the other day and said, ‘I like this beer you can’t buy it round here’. So I put it on next week’s stock order already.
“In a nutshell, we aim to please.”
When asked what he loves about craft beers, Oliver said: “Apart from the taste of it which is better than your bog standard stuff, I like the whole community behind it. I like the craft beer community. They all tend to be nice, friendly people.”
Craft beer has been rising in popularity over the years.
According to Statista, a market and consumer data company, the number of independent craft beer breweries in the UK rose by 86 per cent in 2021.
