A man has suffered serious head injuries in an assault that reportedly happened in a town centre street in the middle of the afternoon.
A police cordon was put in place not far from the River Calder, in Brighouse, after emergency services were scrambled to the incident today (Thursday).
Police said they were called to Atlas Mill Road shortly after 3pm to a report that a man had been seriously assaulted.
When emergency services arrived, they found a man with serious head injuries.
He was taken to hospital. Calderdale CID are continuing their inquiries.
