BRADFORD’S Hindu community has paid tribute to the Queen following her death.
Ashok Nair, the chairman of the Hindu Cultural Society of Bradford, said everyone was deeply saddened by her passing.
Mr Nair reflected on the time the Queen – along with Prince Philip – visited the Hindu Cultural Society in 2007, where they inaugurated the purpose-built £3million Lakshmi Narayan Mandir on Leeds Road.
“The Hindu Community of Bradford sends our sincere sympathies and condolences to all the Queen’s family members,” he said.
“She was a very caring and loving monarch and was loved by all across the world for the work she did.
“Her memory will live on with her legacy – we remember her especially when she and Prince Philip came to the Hindu Cultural Society on 24 May, 2007.
“We will miss her dearly and we will also mourn for her during the national mourning period. Our priest will read special prayers from our holy scriptures in front of her photograph to bless her soul towards her final journey."
Mr Nair met the Queen a second time three years ago.
“I also had the great honour of meeting her in May 2019, when my wife and I attended her garden tea party,” he explained.
“She was so brave that, even though it was raining, she still came out to meet and greet us all.
“May god bless the Queen, her family and King Charles III.”
