THE managing director of the Coniston Hotel and Spa, north-west of Skipton, is to appear at court tomorrow (Thursday) charged with causing the death of a woman from the Bradford district by careless/inconsiderate driving.
Nicholas Bannister, 63, of Bell Busk, a hamlet not far from the hotel, is alleged to have caused the death of Judith Wadsworth, 66, from Baildon, following an incident in the grounds of the Coniston Hotel, at Coniston Cold, on February 7, 2020.
A plea is expected to be entered at the hearing at Harrogate Magistrates' Court.
Shortly after the incident, a statement from Mrs Wadsworth’s family said: “Judith was a beautiful selfless person and no words can express our sense of loss and devastation right now.
“She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by everyone who knew her.
“We’re still struggling to come to terms with her death as a family.”
It is understood that Mrs Wadsworth was staying as a guest at the well-known hotel.
