A police operation in Bradford city centre saw the force crack down on anti-social behaviour, drugs and street drinking.

West Yorkshire Police took action on Monday following a series of complaints from residents and visiting members of the public.

Officers in high visibility and plain clothes were tasked with targeting the Ivegate, Tyrell Street and City Park areas of the city as well as responding to active reports of crime.

Officers conducted several stop and searches, resulting in a number of controlled drugs being seized.

Some offenders are set to appear in court having been reported for summons for various drugs offences.

Those eligible were issued with out of court disposals.

Officers also worked in collaboration with partners from Change Grow Live to provide support to people struggling with drugs use.

Whilst on patrol officers responded to several medical incidents and provided first aid until ambulance staff arrived.

Officers made arrests for court issued warrants and breaches of Criminal Behaviour Order.

One man was also arrested and charged for theft from a motor vehicle.

Sergeant Murray from Bradford City NPT said: “We are working hard to address the concerns of the local community and businesses.

“This operation is part of a longer-term partnership approach to targeting Anti-Social Behaviour within the City Centre. We will be looking to conduct further operations in the future targeting issues identified by the community.”
