A MAN has been sent to jail after he callously stole a charity box and was caught with a knife.
Stephen John Irwin, 41, of Olicana House, Little Germany, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced.
On July 19, he stole a charity box and its contents of £100 from the Holme Wood Pharmacy, on Holme Wood Road.
Then on August 18 he was caught with a kitchen knife in City Park.
For the charity box offence, he was given a two-month prison sentence and ordered to pay £100 compensation.
The offence was deemed so serious as it was aggravated by previous offending.
For the knife offence, he received a four-month prison sentence and was ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge. The sentences will run consecutively.
