VETERAN runner and friend of the Settle Area Refugee Support Group, Chris Beesley, has undertaken a challenge to raise funds for Ukrainian families in Craven.

On Friday, September 23, Chris, 70, will run the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside.

The route Chris plans to take is almost 20 miles and will see him climb more than 2,00o metres. His hope is to raise £1,000 to pay for a programme of half term activities for families who have been forced to flee their war torn homes.

He said:"Many of these families have nothing. They don't know if or when they will be able to return home or whether their loved ones left in Ukraine are safe. What I am doing is just a small attempt to show them that people here in Craven care."
