THE trial of a tyre company boss who operated a site in Bradford has been delayed until the New Year.
Stuart Bedford and Equalityre are being prosecuted by the Environment Agency for allegedly failing to comply with an order from October 2020 to clear a site on Spring Mill Street, on the edge of Bradford city centre, of waste tyres.
In November 2020 a huge fire spread through the site, leading to a major emergency service response.
Both Bedford, of Fairfax Avenue, Harrogate, and the company denied the charges, and a two-day trial was due to begin on Thursday.
At Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Thursday, District Judge Richard Clews was told that Bedford had informed the court that he was too ill to attend the trial.
District Judge Clews agreed to adjourn the trial until January 12.
