A BRADFORD district woman has appeared on a popular TV show as she prepares to get married to a man from Iran who she had only met once before.
Emma, 44, of Cleckheaton, has featured in the series, 90-Day Fiance UK, as she gets ready to marry Hossein, 34, a bodybuilder from Iran.
The series follows eight people from the UK who have fallen in love with someone who lives abroad and the couples are looking to marry.
The long-distance lovers are given 90 days to see if they commit or if they decide to end their relationships.
The show was originally broadcast in the USA and has proved so popular that a UK version has now been produced.
Emma and Hossein have only met each other once in person in the six years they have known each other, after initially contacting each other via social media.
The series follows Emma’s preparations for her big day as she has cocktails with friends at Tallulah’s Wine Bar on Bingley Road, Saltaire.
This visit to the bar followed Emma choosing her wedding dress at Saltaire Bridal on Victoria Road.
Emma, a manager of a Persian takeaway, describes herself as ‘very outgoing, a little bit crazy and sometimes a little bit wild’ in the programme.
Tracy Butterfield, owner of Saltaire Bridal, says she enjoyed welcoming Emma and her entourage and the film crew to her village shop.
The clips from the series shows Emma trying on a number of wedding dresses at the shop and asking for the opinions of her two friends and her daughter, who is also interviewed on camera.
Tracy said: “The show has been going for a long time in the US. It has a huge following.
“This is the first series in the UK and it is quite interesting.
“Emma was such a lovely lady. Her friends and daughter were really supportive of her when she came to choose her dress. She says it how it is. She has found someone she really loves.
“It was quite interesting to watch it on TV. The shop was only on for a couple of minutes. It shows the shop really nicely. I don’t speak in the clip, you see me in the background.”
The edition of the 12-part Discovery+ series which features Emma’s visit to Saltaire was included in episode eight, which was broadcast on August 28. This can now be steamed via the channel’s website, discoveryplus.com/gb/show/90-day-fiance-uk.
