NEW measures to secure a play area “used for anti-social and criminal activities” have been proposed by a Bradford school.

A planning application to install a three-metre-high fence around an area of land next to Horton Grange Primary School on Spencer Lane has been submitted to Bradford Council.

There is already a fence around the green area, but Exceed Academies Trust says the existing structure does not protect the site adequately.

Keighley school's plan to fence in grounds is approved on second attempt

The application says the land is currently classed as a play area, but adds: “due to the current low height of the gates and fence and its illegal use for various antisocial and criminal activities throughout the week (and left-over items and paraphernalia associated with these activities), the play area cannot presently be safely or securely used by the school and its pupils.”

The plans show that new seating and landscaping will be installed on the site if the new fencing is approved.
