CITY centre phone booths will be replaced with more modern models after a number of planning applications were approved.
Earlier this Summer, a swathe of applications to pull down 1990s phone booths and free standing ATMs were submitted to Bradford Council.
New World Payphones planned to replace the “tired” units, which they said attract anti-social behaviour, with sleek, modern units.
And the company pledged to plant a tree for every booth it would remove.
A number of these application have now been approved, including ones that will see booths on Westgate and Great Horton Road replaced.
Planning officers said the new booths would not harm the “key vistas” of the city centre.
Applications for digital advertisements on the new booths have also been approved.
