A WOMAN faces a bill of more than £660 after dodging a train fare between Manchester and Bradford.
Aamina Malavia, 21, of Stretford Road, Manchester, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.
She travelled between Manchester Victoria and Bradford Interchange without paying the £29.20 fare.
During this journey, on April 28, 2022, she produced an Advance single from Manchester Victoria to Bradford interchange stations with a 16-25 Railcard discount. When requested, Malavia was unable to produce the accompanying Railcard, she advised it was at home. Her details were obtained and she was advised the facts would be reported.
Malavia was told the incident would be reported. A letter was sent to her requesting an explanation. As there was no response, a Fixed Penalty Notice was sent, which remains unpaid.
Malavia was fined £440, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £44 victim surcharge and £29.20 compensation for the offence, which totalled £663.20.
Sandall was sentenced in his absence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on August 17, 2022.
