A CITY centre road will be shut this afternoon to accommodate fans enjoying a pre-match drink before Bradford City’s home game.

A road closure will be in place on North Parade from 1pm to 3pm today ahead of the Bantams' clash with Crewe Alexandra at Valley Parade in League 2 (3pm kick-off).

Bradford Council has agreed to close off the road at the top of town, which is undergoing £2 million works, for two hours today.

This closure is to allow Bantams fans going to the game a chance to enjoy food and drinks before kick-off in a safe environment.

The £2m development of North Parade, Rawson Square and Northgate, Bradford, started earlier this month.

Bradford Council awarded the contract to Eric Wright Civil Engineering for the scheme, which includes the installment of natural stone paving to enhance the character of many of the buildings, widening the pavements and a network of rain gardens to reduce flood risk.
