Bradford’s Ukrainian community has asked the city to back its fundraising campaign to rebuild an orphanage in Chernihiv.
The Association of Ukrainian Women is supporting the reconstruction, linked to the Ukrainian Children’s Appeal Fund, and TAK.Shtab, a Kyiv-based organisation which helps displaced children and their families with humanitarian aid.
A charity coffee and cake event is taking place at Bradford Ukrainian Club, Legrams Lane, between 2pm and 5pm on September 4.
Entry – which includes coffee, tea and a slice of cake - will cost £5.
There will also be a raffle, children’s activities and a competition.

Daria Macina told the Telegraph & Argus: “All are welcome.
“We want to thank everybody who has donated, who has supported us.
“In the beginning people were bringing stuff down, we were just totally inundated. We’re still getting donations.
Reflecting on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Daria said: “It’s just so shocking, it’s unbelievable.”
