A NUMBER of well-known The Apprentice stars flocked to Bradford as the winner of Series 14 launched her new dessert parlour in the city.
Large crowds of people turned out for the official opening of Oh So Yum, in White Abbey Road yesterday and were greeted by some famous faces, including the main star herself.
Harpreet Kaur, 30, won the latest series of The Apprentice, bagging a £250,000 investment from Sir Alan Sugar after the 12-week process.
The business, which is also co-owned by Harpreet’s sister, Gurvinder Kaur, sells sweet treats including waffles, crepes and the brand’s famous cookie cups.
The Kaur sisters already have stores in Huddersfield and the White Rose Shopping Centre, as well as running an online delivery business.
But now they have a parlour in the City of Culture 2025 and the upstairs of the premises will act as the company’s headquarters for packing online orders.
A large pink balloon arch was installed outside the building’s front doors, to match the business’s colour scheme.
Harpreet’s fellow finalist, Kathryn Louise Burn – who pitched her online pyjama business to Sir Alan Sugar but ultimately lost out – was one of the celebrities there to support her friend.
Akeem Bundu-Kamara, Stephanie Affleck, Brittany Carter, Akshay Thakrar and Alex Short were also at the launch party.
A large crowd of people were queuing for meet and greets and to sample some of the parlour’s treats from around 2pm and then the official ribbon cutting got underway at 3pm.
Harpreet, who had been inside throughout the afternoon, came out of the building to a rapturous applause, with dhol drummers providing a party atmosphere.
Once the ribbon was cut, Harpreet and her fellow former The Apprentice candidates made their way into the road and began dancing and chanting to the beat of the drums, with members of the public also joining in the fun.
The businesswoman was hoisted into the air at one point and gave a short speech, thanking people for coming and also the staff at Oh So Yum.
