THERE are yet more rail strikes today and multiple services across Bradford and the county are being impacted and even cancelled entirely.
Rail passengers are suffering fresh travel misery as tens of thousands of workers strike again in the long-running dispute over pay, jobs and conditions.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT), the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) and Unite are walking out for 24 hours on Saturday.
This is affecting Network Rail and 14 train operators, including Northern Rail.
The rail comapny is advising customers do not travel today, with seven routes operating reduced frequency services and all others closed.
The affected Northern Rail services are:
- Between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square
- Between Leeds and Ilkley
- Between Leeds and Skipton
- Between Leeds and Sheffield
- Between Leeds and York
- Between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester
- Between Manchester and Alderley Edge
Only around one in five trains are expected to run on Saturday across the country, with some areas having no services all day, as the unions stage their second stoppage in three days.
Football and cricket fans, tourists and holidaymakers are among those affected by the disruption.
The sides are as far apart as ever in resolving the row despite months of talks aimed at breaking the deadlock, with increasing union anger at the refusal of Transport Secretary Grant Shapps to get involved in negotiations.
Disruption is also expected to Northern Rail services tomorrow too, in the aftermath of the strikes, particularly in the morning.
People are being advised to check before they travel, if they are needing to use the railway service today and on Sunday.
