A MOTHER is outraged after strands of hair and a nit was found in her four-year-old daughter's order from a Bradford McDonald's.
On Thursday night, Chantelle Gledhill and her family ordered from the Five Lane Ends branch and were shocked by what they discovered.
Chantelle's young daughter Myla Lingard had just finished her cup of Fanta Orange when her father lifted off the lid and saw a strand of hair and a nit.
Then she went to eat her Smarties McFlurry and noticed more hair in the ice cream.
Myla's father proceeded to visit the McDonald's in question and was offered a refund and two free meals.
He turned down the offer and insisted the family will never eat from McDonald's again.
"I am really upset and utterly disgusted with the full situation," Chantelle, speaking to the Telegraph & Argus on Friday, said.
"She took the lid of the Fanta and started sucking on the ice but her dad discovered what looks like a nit spider in the bottom.
"We immediately put everything back in the bag and her dad went up to McDonald's, and, as you can imagine, he was not very happy.
"He (Myla's dad) was really angry and upset. He said no to the meals as we will never eat McDonald's again.
The incident has haunted Chantelle who fears what Myla swallowed when drinking the Fanta.
She added: "I'm just so angry that my daughter drank this full cup of pop and there were things inside it.
"I don't know if it's gone up her straw and if she has swallowed anything.
"I haven't been able to eat since last night because it has stuck in my mind and I feel sick.
"It makes me gip every time to think that my daughter drank the cup of Fanta and was about to eat the ice cream."
McDonald's has offered an apology to the family and said they have conducted a "thorough investigation" since it happened on Thursday night.
When approached by the Telegraph & Argus, a McDonald's spokesperson said: “Food safety and hygiene is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control.
"We’d like to apologise to the customer for their experience on this occasion.
"When the matter was brought to our attention we offered the customer a full refund and have since conducted a thorough investigation.”
