A MAN has been left with life-changing injuries after he was punched in the head and hit by a brick.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened on Sunday, August 7.
It happened at about 7.30pm in Heathy Lane, in the Holmefield area of Calderdale, when the 64-year-old man noticed two males acting suspiciously around a digger on a new-build estate.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "When he challenged the males he was punched in the head, which caused him to fall. It is then believed he was hit by a brick thrown at him which caused ankle injuries.
"He received hospital treatment for his injuries, which are described as life-changing.
"Enquiries suggest the males made off on foot up Heathy Lane and may have got into a pick up-type vehicle which was waiting nearby.
"A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident, but has been released on bail pending further enquiries."
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact DC 3308 Gledhill at Calderdale District CID on 101, or by using the LiveChat via www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat
