A CHILDREN'S centre which runs all year other than at Christmas has been rated Good after making huge improvements.
Trinity Children's Centre, in Knowl Road, Mirfield, was visited by Ofsted on July 5.
Inspectors found the setting - which caters for 68 children - has made "significant improvements" since its last full visit in January this year when it was rated Inadequate.
Trinity Children's Centre provides flexible pre-school education to three and four-year-olds and before and after-school care for children up to the age of 14.
The report states: "Children separate from their main carers with ease and enter the setting.
"They greet their friends with smiles and cuddles, showing they feel safe, secure and happy to be there."
Staff provide many chances for children to develop their communication skills, such as introducing the words "stethoscope" and "optician" in the role-play area.
They also read a variety of books with children and support those who are older to tell their own stories, using puppets.
The report states: "Staff sing songs and rhymes, and encourage children to select their own songs at group time.
"This helps to develop children's confidence and their speaking and listening skills."
The setting has funding for two-year-olds, meaning there are spaces to fill in that age group.
