THE police are working with Bradford City FC to identify the people involved in an incident where a fan was hit by a flare during Saturday's match against Newport at Valley Parade.
Bradford City also launched their own investigation when a supporter was hit by the pyrotechnic, which was thrown after the second goal from the upper tier of the Kop. The flare landed on a supporter below.
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police said: "We are aware of an incident during Saturday’s match in which a pyrotechnic was thrown. We are working with the club to identify those involved.
City are reviewing CCTV footage and hope to provide police with images to further identify suspects.
A statement said that those found responsible will face an indefinite ban from all City games - as will anyone connected to the incident.
City chief executive Ryan Sparks said: “Given our history, and what many of our supporters have been through together, it was utterly sickening to see a pyrotechnic deployed inside Valley Parade.
“When we find those responsible, they will face the strongest-possible action, and we urge anyone with information to step forward and assist with our investigations.”
