A MAN has been sent to prison for using racially aggravated words against a police officer.
Reece Southern, 22, of Calderstone Avenue in Buttershaw, Bradford, pleaded guilty to racially or religiously aggravated fear or provocation of violence by words or writing on August 4 at Kirklees Magistrates' Court.
He had previously pleaded not guilty. The 22-year-old used threatening, abusive or insulting words on his street towards a police officer on January 21 this year which caused the victim to believe immediate unlawful violence would be used.
The court found that the offence was racially aggravated. Southern was sentenced to three months in prison, uplifted from two due to the offence being racially aggravated. He was given limited credit for his late guilty plea.
