A MAN has been fined for failing to possess a Covid testing package on his arrival in England after he landed at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Adam Benson, 21, of Ajaz Court, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, landed at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) on June 13, 2021, from outside the common travel area.
Benson failed to possess a testing package on arrival in England, contrary to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel and Operator Liability) (England) Regulations 2021.
Benson was fined £1,760 and also ordered to pay a £176 victim surcharge and £85 costs for the offence. A collection order was made by the court at the sentencing hearing and should be paid by August 22, 2022.
He was sentenced at Greater Manchester Magistrates' Court, Tameside, on July 25, 2022.
Benson faced no separate penalty for a second charge of failing to provide information on passenger locator form on arrival from outside common travel area, Palma in Spain. This also took place at LBA on June 13, 2021.
The passenger locator forms required people to fill in travel details, their address in the UK and vaccination status were scrapped by the UK Government from March 18, 2022.
