A MAN claiming to be ‘into white magic’ shocked a female staff member by exposing himself in a treatment room at Airedale Hospital.
Marek Gasper said he had taken heroin and had chest pains after a paramedic brought him to be examined, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Gasper, 24, formerly of New Town Court, Keighley, but then remanded into custody, pleaded guilty to intentionally exposing his genitals at the hospital on April 1 last year intending that someone would see them and be caused alarm or distress.
He also admitted attempting to communicate with a child for sexual purposes in 2019.
Prosecutor Michael Greenhalgh told the court that Gasper was given a chair at the hospital near Steeton and his blood pressure was taken.
He kept moving his hands and arms round his waist and when he stood up his groin was at the seated staff member’s eye level and his penis was sticking out of his trousers.
She was shocked and embarrassed and did not know where to look, Mr Greenhalgh said.
Gasper sat back down, said his hips were hurting and rubbed his jogging bottoms.
The staff member alerted security and said he shouldn’t be seen by a lone female at the hospital.
Gasper at first denied the offence saying it may have been an accident.
The previous year, he was netted by an online paedophile hunting group called STOP.
A decoy account was set up with an adult woman posing as an underage girl. When Gasper contacted her on Facebook Messenger, she told him she was 14, the court heard.
He said he was into white magic and there was sexualised conversation. He sent her a picture of a penis and told her he wanted to have sex with her and marry her.
On September 15, 2019, the decoy set up a meeting with Gasper and the group challenged his behaviour before handing the police copies of the sexualised messages.
The court was told that Gasper had previous convictions for drugs and dishonesty of-fences and battery.
His barrister, Bunty Batra, said in mitigation that Gasper had mental health problems and had spent so long in custody on remand that he had already served the appropriate sentence for the offences.
Judge Colin Burn jailed him for 13 months.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order made for ten years prevents Gasper from having any unsupervised contact with girls under 18.
