A NEW bakery could soon be built at a retail park on one of Bradford’s busiest roads.
The Avenue Retail Park, off Tong Street, is the subject of a new planning application by Metropolitan and City Properties Ltd.
The plans, submitted to Bradford Council, call for the 112 square metre unit to be built on the Tong Street side of the retail park’s car park.
No end user for the new bakery is identified in the application, which says the new business will create three full time and 12 part time jobs.
It adds: “The proposals also seek to improve the existing pedestrian connectivity within the site and pathways accessing the site from surrounding areas.
“The development will provide a positive contribution and contemporary addition to the local area and provide new job opportunities.”
The Telegraph & Argus contacted bakery giant Greggs to ask if the new store would be the latest Greggs branch to open in the city.
A Greggs spokesperson said: “Greggs is always looking into new shop locations, while we are unable to confirm anything at the moment, we will be sure to share any information in due course.”
A decision on the application is expected next month.
