AN online fundraising target to pay for surgery to remove a large tumour on a Bradford dog’s face has been reached and surpassed.
Murphy, the Siberian husky, disappeared, believed stolen, in December 2014 from his home in Bradford.
The animal-loving community took Murphy and his family to heart and his plight was soon known across the UK and the world.
A online page, on GoFundMe, was set up last weekend to raise a £3,000 target to pay for an operation to remove a large tumour on the popular dog’s face.
Murphy, who is 12, has a tumour which started out as a pimple three months ago and has since developed.
Now, just days later, the initial target has been smashed. The total stands at more than £3,100.
Karen Pritchard, who set up the online fundraiser, posted earlier this week: “Thank you so very much to everyone who has donated so far, and for the lovely words of support too.
“I've spoken with Andy and Pui (Murphy’s owners) this morning and they're absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness shown.
“Murphy is due to have surgery on August 19 and we will of course keep you updated on his progress.”
