A 56-YEAR-OLD man has escaped jail for carrying a knife and nunchucks in the street.
Adam Khan, of Gibson Street in the BD3 area of Bradford, pleaded guilty to possessing a knife blade and offensive weapon in a public place at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on July 13 and was sentenced last Monday.
The court handed him a sentence of four months in prison suspended for a year for the first offence and two months in jail also suspended for a year for the second charge.
Khan was caught at the junction of Lilycroft Road and Oak Lane, in Manningham with a fixed blade knife and nunchucks.
The court record shows the reason for the sentence was the seriousness of the offence which was exacerbated by Khan carrying two weapons on that day.
Khan must complete up to 20 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days within the next 12 months, as part of his sentence.
He was also ordered to pay the court £213.
This includes, a surcharge of £128 to fund victim services and costs of £85.
The total balance must be paid by August 29.
An order was also made to seize both the knife and nunchucks from Khan.
