A MAN has been sent to prison for half a year after carrying a large kitchen knife in Bradford city centre.
Amraiz Rehman, 42, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to possessing a blade or sharp pointed article in a public place at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court last Monday.
He was sentenced to 26 weeks in jail, while also receiving an extra four weeks for failing to attend the original court date on July 19, with a police warrant for arrest issued at that time.
Rehman was caught with a six-inch kitchen knife at BD1 1QP - which is in the area of Kirkgate - on June 4 this year.
His guilty plea was taken into account when sentencing and the knife is to be forfeited and destroyed.
