MOBILE phone masts on a Bradford mill could soon be upgraded to 4G if new plans are approved.
Cellnex currently has a mobile phone base station on a section of Legrams New Mill on Summerville Road – a Grade II listed building.
The company says it needs to upgrade its existing station to improve its 4G coverage in the area.
A GPS node will also be added to the building.
Referring to the fact that the building is listed, the application says: “The proposal looks to conserve the heritage asset where the upgraded equipment will have only marginal additional impact at the rear façade of the tower.
“The upgraded base station is required as part of a national mobile communications network, necessary to extend and improve mobile connectivity to the local area and has wider public interests.”
A decision on the application is expected next month.
