A BRADFORD woman who has a long history of offending appeared in court after her dog bit a police officer.
Kelly Walsh received a suspended sentence for committing two offences - being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog which caused injury and failing to surrender to police.
The 34-year-old's Alsatian/German Shepherd type dog, called Diamond, attacked the officer on Manor Lane in Shipley on March 21.
Walsh was found guilty at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on July 22.
The court said the dog would be destroyed if it was not kept under control by being securely held on a lead by a person older than the age of 16.
A securely fitted muzzle must also be used to prevent it from biting anybody else, the court ordered.
Walsh received a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
In the second offence, on July 21, Walsh failed to surrender to custody at Bradford Magistrates' Court.
She received a two-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, which will run consecutively to the first offence.
Court documents state Walsh has a "long history of offending".
She must pay £200 in compensation, £85 in court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
