A MAN has been fined and handed five points on his licence for driving a van without due care and attention.
Matthew Denton, 66, of Oakland Street in Silsden pleaded guilty on Tuesday, August 2, to driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or in a public place without due care and attention at North Yorkshire Magistrates' Court.
The offence relates to February 14 this year.
Denton was driving a white Fiat Ducato van on Ripon Road (A61), near the historic market town of Harrogate, when he was in breach of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
The 66-year-old was sentenced on the same day he pleaded guilty.
He was ordered to pay £416 to the courts and also was given five points on his driving licence.
