THE WINNER of this year’s series of The Apprentice is opening a dessert parlour in Bradford.
Harpreet Kaur, a businesswoman from West Yorkshire, revealed in an Instagram post that she would be opening a sit-down dessert parlour called Oh So Yum in Bradford.
Harpreet, who already owns dessert shops with her sister Gurvinder, in Huddersfield, and at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds, impressed business mogul Lord Alan Sugar throughout the 12-week BBC series and finally won him over with her business plans in the final episodes.
Now, she has told the Telegraph & Argus why she has chosen to open her newest store on White Abbey Road in Bradford.
Harpreet said: “I’ve always come to Bradford growing up. I’m originally from Huddersfield but we’ve already opened a dessert parlour there so Bradford seemed like the next logical step.
“Bradford is a huge city, loads of people come into the city to enjoy all of the food establishments so we just thought it would be the next best place to open. We're so excited to be opening here.”
Harpreet added that she wants to help “put Bradford on the map”, especially when visitors begin to flock to the district as a result of the successful City of Culture bid.
When asked what sort of vision she has for the store, Harpreet said: "There’s nothing quite like us in Bradford at the moment, we have a unique range of cookie cups, brookies, and Oh So Yum merchandise on sale, and we’re going to have a photo booth in store, so there will be lots of exciting elements to it.
“We want to create a place where people can come and chill and also provide a safe space for people to come."
The Bradford store will also act as the company's headquarters and the packing centre for online deliveries, creating a number of employment opportunities.
Harpreet said she is hoping that Lord Sugar will make an appearance in the near future, to see how his £250,000 was spent.
In the BBC series, Harpreet described herself as a "born leader, fearless and funny".
An opening date has not yet been given for the new store, but it's believed it may open its doors sometime next month.
