A MAN accused of murdering a young mum has appeared in court where he also faced charges of allegedly threatening her sister.
Charlie Booth, 27, of Albert Road in Saltaire, Shipley has been charged with murdering 26-year-old Lauren Jade Howe.
The mother-of-two died in hospital on Sunday morning (July 24) after an incident in Tennis Way, Baildon, earlier that day.
West Yorkshire Police were notified by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service at 9.46am that they were treating an injured woman.
Booth was arrested on Sunday and charged with murder this morning.
He made his first appearance in Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court at 10am.
Booth – who was sporting a beard and was wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt and black pants – was brought up to the dock where he confirmed his name, date of birth and address.
Three of his family members were also in the courtroom.
The prosecution said Booth has been charged with Ms Howe’s murder.
He has also been charged with two offences in relation to Ms Howe’s sister, Leigha Howe.
This includes threatening to burn down her house – with the intention of causing fear that the threat would be carried out – and sending mobile and text messages with threats to cause her stress or anxiety.
The prosecution applied to have these two matters – which could be tried at either a magistrates court or crown court – linked with the murder case.
This application was approved by the court.
The prosecution concluded its submissions by outlining Booth understands all three charges put to him.
Saf Salam, representing Booth, said the 27-year-old will deny the offences in due course but understands he could not make a representation today and understands the case would be sent to crown court.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Bradford Crown Court on Friday.
Ms Howe was known as "lollipop" to her loved ones and was described as a "truly amazing" mum.
Family members have paid tribute to her.
One sister, Olivia Howe, posted a message today which said: "R.I.P to my beautiful sister my heart is well and truly broken and I don’t think I’m ever gonna get through this.
"You wasn’t just my sister, you was my best friend.
"I love and miss you loads, life ain’t ever gonna be the same without you."
A heartbroken Emily Brooks said the last words she heard from Ms Howe was "I love you" and she said she will "cherish them words for the rest of my life."
