CROSSES stolen from an Addingham church and discarded on a river bank have been recovered and returned to their rightful place.

The crosses, which were reported stolen to police on June 20 from St Peter's Church, on Low Mill Lane, Addingham, have now been located.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Due to the efforts of the local PCSO assisted by a group of local volunteers, the crosses, along with some other items, were located.

"They had been discarded on the river bank some distance from the church.

"All the items have been recovered and returned to their rightful place.

"The police would also like to pass on their thanks to all those who assisted in the search.

"Sadly this incident seems to have been a random act of mindless vandalism with no regard for the feelings of those families who have lost loved ones."
